Lifestyle sessions are calm and intimate.  They document a wonderful milestone in your life and typically take place in the nursery, master bedroom or living room.  Lifestyle photography uses a natural, informal approach with an artistic feel to record those precious first few weeks of your baby’s life.   They are normally very natural images where baby is photographed in unaided poses, emphasising the tender connection between family members and your new arrival.  If siblings are involved I would photograph them first so they are free to relax and play while we work on capturing each family member with baby.  It can be helpful to have an extra pair of hands during the shoot to take care of siblings so that Mum and Dad are free to be in a few photos with baby.

The only props used are those to hand, but you may have a sentimental item or a favourite outfit you would like to include.  There are no backdrops and lighting is always natural daylight.  There is time to focus on your baby alone too.  I like to document their tiny details as you would naturally find them; clothed, swaddled, undressed, asleep or awake.  I will guide you through the session advising you where is best to take the images and which positions to interact with baby.

Whether your baby is sleeping, crying or yawning they are all perfect moments of such a fleeting stage of their lives so I photograph it all.  Having a newborn at home is such a wonderful time in your family’s life, albeit a period of hazy tiredness and running on adrenaline.  I will follow your baby’s lead, letting them be the focus of the shoot so all you need to do is relax and enjoy the session while I tell your unique story.
